I think asking where to download illegal software is against forum rules here as well. But yes, it would be closed even quicker at an Apple forum.
never asked for an illegal copy..

I just bought one of these to hook up to my 13" 2010 pro, and it is awesome. Really like it. Good price also.

If fan stopped working and your QS doesn't play "chime" sound anymore, it's possible that CPU is fried.

Yeah, it is more than likely your Optical Drive has died unfortunately, the SuperDrive in my MacBook has been replaced two times, and now the third drive is beginning to go now. It is having issues burning DVD's and that's usually how it starts, refusing to mount or burn to a certain type of media. Try putting a DVD into the drive and see how it reacts to that.

This just popped up on my Tivo (I have a standing wishlist for MacWorld):
Today 1/9, 12:00pm EST (when the keynote starts), a program called In Focus. This is a regular program. The topic is "MacWorld kicks off." No idea what they have planned.
Channel 353 on DirecTV.

If I recall correctly, that system has 64-bit, 33MHz PCI slots, not PCI-X. I believe the first machine to have PCI-X was the 1.8GHz G5.
Oh! You're correct. PCI!!!

That's pretty lucky, technically your warranty was void with the ipad baseband.
Also remember once you have the ipad 6.15 baseband you must always use a custom firmware that doesnt update the baseband. All normal IPSW files will fail after doing ipad baseband.

Hey guys,
I've read a bunch of threads on hard drive setups but found few that mirrored my situation and most were pretty complex for my needs. Currently looking at a 2010 MP 2.8 Quad/12GB OWC RAM (it will be my first desktop Mac).
What hard drive setup would you recommend?
I do print/web design (CS5) and would like to get into some Final Cut pretty soon. I also have lots of media files (music, movies, tv shows) that I add to regularly.
I have my heart set on an OWC 115GB SSD for OSX/apps... the rest will be 1 or 2TB WD drives (black or green) for data, scratch, storage... I'd also like a trusty, simple backup solution.
Optical or #1 for SSD: ?
#2: ?
#3: ?
#4: ?
Please advise... thanks in advance!!! :D

I have a couple websites that are hosted on the "Web" area in my iDisk and am wondering how I can setup my web editor of choice, Coda, to access the site remotely. From what I understand, this is the same area where iWeb created site are deposited. I have been getting my with drag and drop so far but it can be a PITA.
Bonus question: Anyone successfully run a WordPress site on .mac?
Any help or insight greatly appreciated. -Hugo
FTP access available for .mac? I'd really like to live edit via Coda. Thanks!

Monitor with headphones next time. They help isolate the sound so you can concentrate on exactly what the camera is hearing.

Sorry, missed this one. If you haven't found the answer already, you can use that command line in the instructions as is (but it will probably be ./mysql and so on). The nuke.sql file can be anywhere you want it to be. Instead of the <nuke.php in the example, you can use < /Users/iMeowbot/junk/nuke.php (or whatever the full path the the actual file is).

Just gotta work out how to clone my old hard drive to it when it arrives so I don't have to faff around re-installing everything
I don't have a SATA caddy so wonder if I can clone my existing drive to an external then clone it back with the new, blank drive installed in the machine...is this do-able?
Yes, that works if the external HDD is using "Mac OS Extended" as format and "GUID" as partition scheme. But USB enclosures for 2.5" S-ATA HDDs can be had for 10 €.

Absolutely. Go to Preferences > Importing > Import using: MP3 Encoder. You can also set custom settings there.
Select the AAC song(s) in iTunes, then go to the Advanced menu and select "Covert Selection to MP3."
If you're talking about songs you downloaded from the iTunes music store:
[1] Transfer the song to your iPod.
[2] Connect an audio cable from your iPod to the audio in on your computer.
[3] Download and install Sound Studio (http://www.felttip.com/products/soundstudio/download.shtml). Open a new recording window and accept the default settings.
[4] Go to the Window menu in Sound Studio, select the Show Input Levels, and click on "Soft play-through." (At this point, set your iPod's volume to maximum.)
[5] Hit the record button in Sound Studio and play the song from your iPod together.
[6] When the song reaches the end, terminate the recording in Sound Studio.
[7] Eliminate any silence from the recording that you don't need, and adjust the amplitude of the waveform if necessary.
[8] Save the file.
[9] Bring it to iTunes.
[10] Convert it to whatever format you need.
AAC files have better quality compression technology compared to mp3 files of the same bitrate.
At equivalent bitrates and track lengths, files of type AAC and mp3 also have the same file size.
Note: When converting from AAC to mp3, you will lose significant quality. I suggest AIFF (or WAV) to mp3 conversion from the original uncompressed AIFF source.

Brand does not matter. Buy the drive with the best warranty that fits your budget. No platter-based drive is better than any other.

I didn't buy an iPod so perhaps that does make me an interesting intelligent person :D
I went and bought an Sony's MiniDisc instead. Very happy with it so far. I don't need 10k songs in my pocket and for me it's a real putoff that models, hollywood stars, hip-hop stars, geeks, circus freaks and rich spoiled kids use it. Just the group of people that I generally dislike. :p

There are alot of keyboard shortcuts for Greek letter that are helpful in graphing
For example pi is (Alt/Option)+(P)
square root is (alt/option)+(V)
