I was sure i read an article posted on this forum, showing someone who did just that. Bought parts off ebay to build a G5 (mainboard, case etc)... or maybe it was to upgrade an original G5 :confused:. I remember something about it not working at the correct speed so he had to mess with it..
Anyhow. MacMini... best bet if you are after something simular to a PowerMac (as in no head and no inbuilt screen) or you could look in the refurbished sites - you can actually get Single CPU 1.8 for a quite reasonable price (a lot less than say a dual g5 2ghz).

Hummm... It's 1" wide. The connector in the PB is a flex cable and both it and the drive butt up against the logic board. I can't see how that adapter board could possibly fit.
If someone's done it, I'd highly recommend the OP try and find a picture of the install in the PB, before committing to a SATA.
It's a nice idea, though, as it does have more options for capacity.

Absolutely no reason to spend any more than 5 on a cradle and 10 ish on an in car charger (dependant upon how fat you intend to travel - battery should last 2-3 hours without)
This setup has served me for 18 months on a 3GS without issue and iPhone 4 gps reception is even better!

The programs are legit and I have purchased them. The friend I'm selling to (well a friend of a friend, I don't know them that well) wants these 2 programs and is willing to pay extra for them. If I end up selling on eBay, I can just reinstall again and quit before that movie starts so the new user starts with a fresh computer?? If I sell it on eBay I won't include the programs then. I just didn't want to sell the computer for extra to this friend telling him I can give him those 2 programs if in fact I or he can't get them back on there. Will the serial numbers work again? I wanted to install myself just to be sure they worked ok.
Thanks
Thanks

Two blown up power supplies in the same computer tells me there is a bigger issue. I would start to suspect that there is a problem in the computer or the electricity from the wall socket.
Can you identify the actual part that blew up?
bingo! Do you have it on an UPS sometimes stepped sinewave ups devices can kill a power supply.

Haha damn. Anyway does anyone here know of these adapters? Any reason they would be a bad choice compared to buying the standard USB adapter and the standard hdmi adapter separately?

Hold it right there boy! I might turn around and sell the iMac, as a friend has offered me a dual 2 G5 for $1,500. If anyone is interested in the iMac, please PM OR EMAIL ME with an offer and any info you would like, please do not post here asking about it. Thanks kingcrowing.

The question here is:
How many websites can a Mac Mini Server Serve before you start to run into issues?
A little bit more info:
I woud be running a MySql database with a Wordpress Multisite install to host 50 to 100 Blogs Max. I doubt that all of the blogs combined would get more than 15 - 20k hits per day serving up just wordpress sites, no audio/video.
To go with a Standard solution I would be looking at a Xeon W3530 (like a i7 930) with Cpanel and 6GB of Ram. That setup would run around $2000.
My thought was to get one Mac Mini Server for $999 and then I could always add a second if traffic picks up..
Input?
and why have you ompared a machine with significantly better processor and memory to a Mac Mini ?
if you were running _any_ linux distro on equivelent hardware to the mac mini, you would get performance no worse than the mac mini, at probably 1/2 the price.
the big saving with going with commodity hardware will come the first time a hard drive fails in the mac mini...

Hello all,
I'm a student filmmaker. I use FCP. I just bought the new 15 in. Macbook Pro to use for school and video editing. I love it BUT as I am a poor college student it was a huge chunk out of my wallet and I'm considering trading or returning for the 13 in.
My original plan was to use the 15 in for everything and start earning money but now I'm starting to think that it would be smart to get the 13in and then when more money is earned buy the imac 21.5 which would be a nice combination. I would only be using the 13 in for light editing and iMac for heavy stuff. I'm not sure if I need ALL that mobile power that the 15 has, I believe the 13 would be just fine for small editing tasks away from home.
I would like your opinion. Do you think it would be better to keep the laptop or trade and save some money now with the 13 in and get an imac later on when the new ones come out.
Since I already bought the 15 I'm not sure what to do.
Your opinion is appreciated!

There is a tutorial around the web for doing this with Adobe Flex for free. Though all of these rely on Flash so no SEO at all.
Next up is have a look for jQuery page flipper, i've seen a few effects built ether in the canvas or with jQuery and these are much more SEO friendly and also free if your willing to put in the work to follow the tutorials and documentation.

Is the following basically another way to write an infinite loop?
for ( i=0; i<20; i++)
i--;
and
for (i=0; i<20; i*20)
printf("modicication...");
It looks like it to me, because the body decrements the 0 to -1, then the third expression increments -1 back to 0, and this keeps going on and on.
The second example will also continue to print also, because i=0, and 0*anything is always 0. Both infinite loops?
