Well, this may or may not be common knowledge amongst Mac users... I have been one since 1999 and had no idea until last week... using X11 downloadable from www.apple.com you can download Gimp (free graphics editor mainly used by linux nuts) and OpenOffice (same deal) and use them on your Macintosh.
Granted it takes a few more seconds to load up but I have found both to be quite stable, user friendly, and best of all FREE!

I dont see why they wont have FM radio on the 4G.... unless they want it to be unique to the Nano only.... but it would help compete against Zune....
hehehehe my apple fanboyness came out and said ZUNE COMPETES WITH iPODS?:apple:FTW HEHEE

Ok, I'll be the jerk and point out that the OP posted a question about a Mac Book Pro on the Mac Pro forum.
Not a problem, we're all nice people (mostly) and are happy to help. But you might get more first-hand testimonials if you post in the right forum.
I am paranoid about things overheating. I'd rather have the noise from extra fans than an burned up processor.
I'd probably just get the latest and greatest that I could afford, and then buy the extended apple care. That way you're covered if it does burn up.
Apple is the only company that I would buy an extended warranty from. I don't trust other manufacturers enough to spend enough money to worry about a warranty.

My kids favorite place to eat. My least favorite place to eat. Food reminds me of something you would get out of the freezer section. Also last few years the place has really gone down hill. They could really use to put some money into this place.

Hi : I just ordered the Refurb Mac Mini with snow leopard server...I want to know whether it will come with Snow Leopard server is preinstalled or i have an option to install the server only if i need...
I am new to Mac and want to just have a vanilla Mac OS and once i get used to it i want to install the server..
While it will have the Server OS Preinstalled, and the Server OS on Recovery Disk, its likely youll be able to find a Client Edition of Mac OS X Snow Leopard to install "over" The Server Edition, and then use the Restore Disks to migrate back to the Server Edition once your used to the OS :)

Airshot looks to be something sending video over 802.11b. Evidently, Macs are not supported.
To that end, just get a good projector with a DVI port, and a Mac-friendly presentation clicker so you don't have to stand by your Powerbook.

That was an April fools joke, if you didn't already know.
Where is it still the 1st April at this time of the day?

Hmm...still not sure about the info so far. Everything seems to focus on the title as a creation tool and not a game so far.
The level design of the first game was outstanding, I would love for those developers to include a solid "career" game already on the disc again. The user content is great too, but I really had the most fun just beating the game and completing all the original levels.

I haven't got any spare keys to map to it, though - I've assigned them to other things, and most of its features clash with Quicksilver.
Thanks for the suggestion, though.

You may just be best off using an online service. They have easy to use templates on their websites and the prices are pretty cheap. It may be cheaper to have them printed professionally than print them yourself (cost of the card stock and ink). Plus they'll look and feel much more professional. You can always find good deals on them and there are plenty of promotions if you search RetailMeNot.com, dealspl.us, or other deal sites.

Any reason for using an EPS? Is it a duo or tri-tone? If not, try using a TIFF or a .psd instead. An EPS will contain its own 8-bit preview image that InDesign might be struggling with.
"Traversing spreads for embedded images" doesn't ring a bell and Google's not much help either. Sounds a bit flight-checky and may have something to do with how InDesign handles embedded images (including EPS previews) across spreads that will need slicing.
Just out of curiosity, I'd save a test document without your EPS, package that into a temporary folder and see whether you get the same message.

Have you tried zapping the PRAM? Thats what I normally try when I have odd startup/reboot issues. I can recall that once fixing an issue I had with my Sawtooth. It would allow me to reboot but not shutdown. I would select shutdown in the Apple menu and just as it seemed like it was about to shutdown it would start the reboot process. I zapped the PRAM and all was well again.

are there alternatives to these scripts?
i'd like to get F@H setup on a couple of rigs here at work and it's generally better to keep the terminal hidden so people don't kill it.

Hey, the first thing that i want to know is can i convert the AAC files from my iTunes DL's to Mp3 format? I'm asking because i've had trouble importing AAC files into Flash MX-04, and MP3 Files just suit it better, and i don't like paying for files that i can't use flexibly.
Also why does apple use AAC, what are the benefits, or the difference vs. MP3 format?

Here is the unhappy event taking place on my computer. I'm on a site where I can watch movies and TV shows for free. But to watch most of them in the best format, I need to install a plugin. Well the link gives my a textedit form because it's not a download for mac. So I start looking and I have ended up installing the following with no luck getting the movies to work:
-DivX video for Mac
-VLC for Mac
-DivX Converter
I'm kind of at my wits end with this. I've looked all of the internet no luck, but would really enjoy watching movies. So can anyone help me? (Downloaded the DivX from the DivX site and VLC from the VLC site).

you're restoring to an earlier OS, thus the issue you are describing. Go spend $30 for 10.6 at an apple store, upgrade to the latest OS revision (currently 10.6.7) and then do the time machine restore. You will again get a kernel panic if you keep using the original macbook restore DVD (it will either have tiger or leopard on it, neither will work if you previously had SL)
on the other hand, if you have an enclosure for your old hard drive (the smaller 120GB one) you could simply do a clone to the larger one using carbon copy cloner.
