Hello-
I just got back from the Genius Bar regarding my 24" LED Cinema Display.
The genius basically just took a quick look, punched in the serial number, and said I need to pay $398.00 for a flat rate repair. I did not oblige to this, and thought I could repair it myself, as I am a A+ certified computer technition.
The problem is, Cinema Displays are not my thing. I have two thoughts on what it could be:
1. The Logic Board inside the Display as suggested by the Genius. When the display is plugged in, it charges my MacBook Pro, and that's all. It does not appear as a USB hub in system profiler, and the iSight camera and speakers are not utilized or even detected by both my MacBook Pro and Mac Mini.
2. The Power Supply...
It might be this, however since the unit charges my MBP i'm not sure about it. Other than the charging, the unit gets otherwise no power.
I'm going to open it up later and inspect for blown capacitors, burnt or damaged areas, ect. I'll post if I find anything.
Thanks!

So I have a bunch of movies in avi form that I have converted to watch on my ipad and that works great.
What settings should I use if I want to watch on DVD instead?
What if I want to connect my ipod or ipad to my TV and watch that way?
Once I convert the files using handbrake I then use popcorn to make my DVD.
I have know idea about this stuff and apologize in advance for sounding like an ass.
Thanks for your help.

I got that when testing a cheap cordless mouse the other day. Our PC in the office wasn't picking up a signal when the receiver was plugged in, but our eMac was, (both are merely for testing purposes). Whenever I moved the mouse, the cursor moved. Great. Whenever I left or right clicked, it moved the cursor into the top corner. So I tried it back on the PC again and it started to work, with both buttons fine too.
Odd.
Odd.

A. No
B. Not really. Your app could register a custom URL handler that would allow it to be launched from a web page with parameters being passed but that would require the page to be changed to do that. So it's not possible in general, generic terms.

Anyone know how to get the best quality feed from my Mac's Nvidia GT120 into a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card in a PC?
Just adapting DVI > HDMI and going into the Blackmagic's HDMI in does not work because the Blackmagic apparently only supports "broadcast resolutions" (I called them and asked).
What's the best way to split a feed out of my Mac that is either a broadcast resolution or the best way to convert a computer resolution (much more than broadcast) to one that can go into the Intensity Pro?

I use NTFS for Mac OS X and it has worked without a problem.
You can Download here (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/26288/ntfs-for-mac-os-x)!

Those type of settings are typically part of a printer driver. I am assuming your home printer and school printer are different, that could be your problem.
As a start, what printer is at home, and what is at school (ie if you have an HP printer at home, missing the Epson page setup is unsurprising).
I figured it out,
I guess my epson printer drivers suppost acrobat 9 and not 10.
The settings are back to normal when I installed 9.
Thank you guys anyway! :D

I'd give you $250 for it + shipping to the UK.

If you're going to be working with large quantities of images, it's time to get the right tool for the job. A proper image manipulation program like photoshop can batch process many images in one go, and can for sure do what you need. There are also some free or cheaper alternatives you could try. The GIMP might be able to do it, I'm pretty sure imageJ can, also I am not sure if Photoshop elements can do batch processing but I have done similar things with graphicconverter.

did you wait 6 hours? Q and A says up to 6 hours wait for stats to appear. I'll wait on my site, just added and see what happens. the stats look nice however, GUI that is, still the same old stats collector it seems (js).
btw your site activity does say it's loading the 1 by 1 px gif and the js from google. also 404 on http://paulasaur.us/textpattern/ext/livearchive.js just thought you would like to know.

Im gonna be a bastard... Google had the answer in shorter time than it took you to ask in here..... "pl to dslr"... go fetch.
What he said ^ but in all honesty, why would you want to mount a RED lens onto a DSLR. That's just a waste when you can get a lens with the same focal range from Canon or Nikon for much cheaper.

I'm brand new to animation. I want a program that I can easily create a visual for story lines with characters without the hassle/knowdledge of how to create characters/environment from scratch.
I read that Poser 2010 Pro has a large library of characters environments compared to Poser 8. The price tag is expensive and want to check on anyone's experience with the two or some other program. Thanks in advance.

Odd, hooking it up to Ethernet seems to work. Well, at least for now, that will do.
(before mine got replaced) my old one used to do that too. not sure why, but ethernet always worked. :)
there are a billion other things to try - i am almost sure none of them will fix it though.

I was talking with my ex tonight, and he told me that he has full blown AIDS. I feel so bad for him and want to do whatever I can to help him out, so I searched for a project like Folding@home and found FightAIDS@home. I want to ask anyone and everyone who can help to please do so to help find a cure for AIDS. I don't want to see him or countless others die because of this damn retrovirus. If you could spread the word, create a team, and setup your folding to do work only for FightAIDS@home that'd be great. I'm asking for the community support of the MacRumors forum. Thank you
I've put the link in my signature. Really please, I don't want to see my ex die. If you could get at least one other person to join that'd be great. Also we can create the macrumors team and show the world that the Mac community has a lot of support behind it.
EDIT: Post if you're going to join the project so I can see who's gonna support me and others with this.

A week old thread isn't considered "dead" yet, right? ;-)
Here's my bedroom... I'm in the middle of doing a lot of redecorating around the house right now, so it's still a bit bare. I'm waiting until after I re-paint to add a few things... (probably some decorations on the dresser and a table lamp next to the bed) but I'm quite happy with how it's turning out!

Also note that anytime you have to render raw files (audio or video) in a Final Cut Sequence, it means that the media's specs don't match the Sequence settings. Rendering conforms the media to the Sequence settings ... but when you make an alteration of any kind, it must re-render so that everything will still match.

Have you considered using the search here? Or even on Google? There is a ton of information available on Yonah these days.
It is dual core. At 2.0Ghz it is more or less as fast as an Athlon 64-X2 at 2Ghz meaning it is probably around the same speed as a G5 clock for clock.

My kids favorite place to eat. My least favorite place to eat. Food reminds me of something you would get out of the freezer section. Also last few years the place has really gone down hill. They could really use to put some money into this place.

We maintain a few computer labs where I work and have some Macs on an Active Directory (AD) domain. The users (mainly students) log in and have their home folder on the network (via smb). It works great; users can take their environment with them wherever they log in and all that jazz.
Is anyone else running such an environment, and have you tried Lion yet? With the way Apple is moving (app store, OS more geared to the consumer) I wonder if these features will remain, or if there are problems integrating Lion into such an environment.
We love the flexibility OS X accords us; we can set up individual machines to either create local home folders for AD users, or use the network home directories, as well as lock down the machines pretty well.
I have not tested in an AD domain, but my understanding is SAMBA is being replaced (http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/03/23/inside_mac_os_x_10_7_lion_server_apple_replaces_samba_for_windows_networking_services.html) with Apple's implementation of it.
Using the NT domain controller will not be an option either. Active Directory only. I am not in an enviroment to test for you. Sorry.

You won't directly be able to install XP over 7. You'll have to use bootcamp assistant to erase the windows partition and create a new one.
