A search will answer all those questions but one thing you do need to keep in mind is apple now signs all of it's firmware. So downgrading is not as easy as it was back in say the 2.x days. If you do not have your SHSH blobs on file you will. Ot be able to downgrade anything. If you are not sure what I'm talking about look up info on saving SHSH blobs and read up.

Eek, that could be hairy. I don't know if 10.6 will play nice with 8.5 for file sharing. I think your best bet would be a flash drive, which are super cheap if you don't already have one.

I wanted to know about the word "misanthrope". is it a "pee" at the end or just like it's spelled "ope"? I'm pretty sure it's the later.
That's how I use it and have heard it pronounced: MISanthrope. A person who dislikes or distrusts others and seeks to avoid them.

The next version of iSync will ship with Tiger. There's still the standalone app in the applications directory, but many featurs have been integrated into the OS (and certain apps) rather more closely than we've seen before. It's working very well in the dev seeds...

If your apartment building is built anything like my dorm building was (and I presume that it probably is) then you are going to get about 50 feet of coverage through walls, maybe less.
Look around, I was doing tech work for companies and the goverment when I was 15, there are jobs out there, you just have to know the right people to get them.
Good luck,
BEN

Hi. I have a mac mini with Snow Leopard and I read that I should possibly set up a guest account and use that instead of my Admin account. I did this, and a couple of days ago I logged back into my admin account and someone else's desktop was there! I took a shot of a couple of screens. I have sharing turned off but also my Mac has been running very slow. I have Sophos and thought that was the best?

My sister cracked her screen and ordered a new one from Ebay with the tools. Unluckily for me it had a phillips and flat-head but no pentalobe. I took a metal file and filed the width of the flat-head on both sides a little at a time and also took a little off the thickness. It now works wonderfully on the 2 pentalobe screws and actually works better on the phillips screws than the phillips screwdriver in the kit. Basically it's just a really small flat-head.

Here's the perfect can for a coffee can antenna. The proportions are nearly perfect:
http://www.caffecalabria.com/tins.html
Damn good coffee, too. I highly recommend the Calabria Blend.
I've built a couple of these.
Get a USB wifi adapter that has an antenna connector - the Alfa brand is excellent and inexpensive. The wifi adapter is small enough to just plug directly into the connector on the coffee can. This avoids a coax cable and resultant cable loss. You can use a reasonably long USB cable and it will work fine, without the signal loss from a long coax cable.
Forget about Pringles cans - they are bunk - the inside of the Pringles can is NOT metalic.
Use the basic "Yuban" design, but use an online calculator to determine the feed-point for the Cafe Calabria can (or similar-sized can.) The longer, skinner can will work better than a fat Yuban can.
I epoxied a nut to the side of the can, so that it can be mounted on a mini camera tripod.
I drilled a hole in the can for the female N connector that you solder the feed wire to. I picked up a metal SMA to N adapter (NOT a cable, but a solid adapter.) That way, the wifi adapter just hangs off the side of the can.
Here's the wifi adapter. Actually, it will probably do a pretty good job without the cantenna. I took my cantenna out on the balcony and can pick up 200+ signals from around the neighborhood and as far away as across San Diego Bay, a couple of miles. They have a number of models, ranging up to 2W power. I haven't heard good things about the 2W model, though. Stick with 1W or the 500mW model that I used.

Edit: Just remembered that the 10 free games thing is Europe only. I think you only get 3 free games with a US account. Bugger.
Yeah, that's why I am thinking Austria. :)
And thanks for the feedback, guys!

The MBP uses 2.5" form factors HDs, I would assume so does the MacBook.

I recently started putting my movies on an 120GB iPod because my 32GB iPhone couldn't handle them all.
I've noticed, however, that the movies are all just sorted alphabetically.
Is there a way to group them into folders (as we all do with our music), so that I can keep all of my school videos together, comedies together, tv shows together, etc.?
Currently I have a lot of school/science videos on my iPod and they run the gamut of titles (alphabetically)....from "Acids and Bases" to "Solubility"...so, obviously, there are other (non-science) video titles that iTunes just puts in between those (making my seamless study of all things science a little more kludgy).
Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
J.

Hi I'd like to be able to watch a movie on my nano iPod, what's the best way?
THanks,
D
OP never said they had a first, second or sixth generation device.
Adrian, you have a point; this question can't be answered without that bit of knowledge.
dedalus, which version of the nano do you have? If you have the 6th gen with the clip on the back and the small touchscreen, then I have a bit of bad news; it cannot play video-- not yet, anyway.
The three previous versions can play video.

I plan on running Windows via VMWare or Parallels on my MBP and I heard that Windows 7 requires more CPU to virtualize, I am just wondering if it's true, and if so, is it significant?
I will be running the virtualization probably constantly so I want to avoid anything that might slow down OSX. I hear 7 is the best choice for Boot Camp though, so I'm torn.
Any insight would be appreciated :)

What plug to you have on the end of the air? If you're not using the 3 prong one, you're not grounded. That might be the source of your noice, if the usb box is usb powered.
What's truly bizarre is I get this whether or not the Air is plugged into AC or running on battery so it isn't about a grounded plug.
